Baby Steps For Entrepreneur
An Austin entrepreneur plans to turn a parent’s struggle to keep up with baby gear into a new Web-based business.
Jeff Chambers, the founder of two technology companies, has launched Babyslist.
The venture is designed to help parents save money with an online marketplace for parents to swap, buy and sell used baby-related items from others in their area.
Chambers developed Babyslist after shopping with his wife for clothes and supplies for their infant daughter.
“Seeing the sheer amount of items we needed, I was like, ‘There has to be a better way to deal with this,’” Chambers said.
Working nights and weekends on the online marketplace, Chambers developed the Web site, which he envisioned to be similar to Craigslist.com, the hugely popular San Francisco-based listing service best known for its stripped-down, no-frills user interface.

What better then to make a business based on what you know. Sounds great. So many parents need to save money, especially with how things are right now. This should be helpful for them and a great way to share some advice. Good luck.

Great idea. Sites like these are very easy to start these days with open source or very cheap scripts. Promotion is key. Can’t go wrong in the baby gear niche. :D

I love it! I wish i had known about that site when i was shopping for my newborn baby boy. not only is the list of items you need tremendous and overwhelming, but it’s hard to find a lot of cute stuff for boy’s. i recently went to wal-mart to shop for christmas for him, i litterally walked around the child’s department for 40 minute’s and only came away with two outfit’s and some sock’s for him…the girl’s selection was enormous, but the boy’s was nothing but sports…well…if you don’t do sport’s…then your kind of out of luck. this site would have been so helpful.

This is really good business, it can help the parents do something good for there baby because its hard to find someting new for them.
