Don’t Wait For The “Perfect Opportunity”

YoungEntrepreneur.com:

He’s one of the Top 25 Businessmen Who Broke The Rules And Won, he made a $4.5 million salary last year and he’s the #14 Top Celebrity Entrepreneur.

Michael Dell was giving a lecture on the ABCs of entrepreneurship to a business class at his psuedo-alma mater, the University of Texas.

Dell: “One of the things I benefited from when I started this business was that I didn’t know anything. I was just instinct with no preconceived notions. This enabled me to learn and change quickly without having to worry about maintaining any kind of status quo, like some of my bigger competitors.

The key is to listen to your heart and let it carry you in the direction of your dreams. I’ve learned that it’s possible to set your sights high and achieve your dreams and do it with integrity, character, and love. And each day that you’re moving toward your dreams without compromising who you are, you’re winning.

Don’t spend so much time trying to choose the perfect opportunity, that you miss the right opportunity. Whether you’ve found your calling, or if you’re still searching, passion should be the fire that drives your life’s work.”

  • I always wondered if the inventor/creator of dell was a one man show or if it was a whole corporation, it’s good to put a face with the well known name that you hear everywhere. it’s weird to imagine i’m commenting on the man’s story using a dell lap top to do so.

  • i agree on what the post is saying, if you want to to business do it now dont wait for the right time and opportunities, like the story of Mr.Dell he is now one of the top businessmen coz he made his time for his business and now his one of the successful enrtrepreneur.this post is very inspiring!

  • This advice makes sense at first but turns out harder than it sounds- if you just choose and opportunity and stop looking for the “perfect” opportunity what are the chances the first right opportunity will be one you have any particular passion for? Not much, really. Finding a good opportunity AND one you are really passionate about is very challenging for most people, myself included.
