Are You a Mousewife?

When I was a kid, my mother and most of my friend’s mothers worked outside of the home. My wife’s mother, on the other hand was a housewife. In those days, women who stayed home often supplemented the household income by making and selling crafts and tasty treats.
Today stay at home moms make their money on the internet. A recent study out of the UK found that almost half of all British housewives are making extra cash by working from home at computer-based jobs. The study even coined a name from the group: “mousewives”.
From selling things via Internet auctions to writing product reviews to handling overflow typing, they are bringing in some much-needed extra money while simultaneously caring for the kids.
According to the study, th top nine jobs for mousewives:
- Online market research
- Selling books, DVDs or CDs online
- Mystery shopping
- Reviewing events or items online
- Typing
- Setting up websites
- Catalogue sales
- Party plan
- Accounts for other businesses

yeah. i agree on that because my cousin too is a working mom but her work is online (as a blogger)…
nowadays, women must be practical because of so much crisis that hits our country and not even the country but the whole, i think…

Never considered myself a mousewife before! My real title is Virtual Assistant, and I do most of the jobs listed…from my home office. Being a Virtual Assistant is a great option for stay at home moms. They determine their own schedule around their family! I definitely think the trend will continue to grow throughout 2009. For any stay at home moms interested in becoming a VA, here is a helpful link http://www.vanetworking.com/become-a-virtual-assistant.htm.

I strongly agree with this post and all the comments it’s had so far. being a stay at home mom is so rewarding i can’t even begin to describe. however, in today’s world with so many down spirals in the market, economy, inflation of prices on just about everything…you also need to consider pitching in to the household as far as an income is concerned. don’t get me wrong, stay at home mom’s pitch in more then we care to talk about a lot of the time’s and our work is never done, but we still need to be practical as most women are and think about helping with the finances as well.
