Local Magazine Portrays Ambitious 'Mompreneurs'

Calgary Herald:

Kathryn Bechthold first published a 16-page Mompreneur Magazine in June 2006 that was distributed in a few grocery stores in Calgary.

Today, the business has a national scope with distribution to more than 50,000 readers.

“I wanted to start a business where I could work from home (with a small baby) so I could be her primary caregiver,” said Bechthold, CEO of The Mompreneur Networking Group Inc. “How do I work with other women in business? How do we ensure success?

“People will publish free information as long as they get that promotional value and so that’s what we really try to do is provide promotion to people who have those skills and offer it on a wide scale basis to women in business. And then we also had to address how do you support a business as well as your family when your family is just new and starting out and growing and the craziness that comes with that.”

Mompreneur is a national magazine for women who are balancing the role of motherhood with being an entrepreneur. It provides information on all aspects of business and being a woman by creating an environment of sharing, support and encouragement to members through the magazine, seminars, web seminars, and online forums.
