Vamp Up Your Home Office

Starting up your own business is a bold venture, one that takes all the time and precious resources that are available to you.

If you can utilize space in your home in the early stages, this will save on both counts.

There is nothing new about a home office, but I do see a need for making it more than a desktop in the corner of the kitchen.

If you plan to run a business from home, it’s time to step it up a notch.

The first step is to find the right space. You can vamp up any room, so don’t be put off if it’s the attic or the basement, a small room off the kitchen or a second-floor bedroom.

The trick is to make it not only businesslike, but a space that reflects you and your talents, often something that is hard to do in traditional office surroundings.

Walls can be transformed at little cost. Architectural details such as crown moldings, deep baseboards, panels or wainscoting will add substance and dimension.

The color and treatment applied to these details are the cues to either a clean, contemporary space, an inviting traditional office, or one that is filled with imagination and whimsy.

  • I completely agree with this post. if your gonna work out of your home there should be a special place for your office even if you don’t have clients at the house. having your own work space helps keep you focused and on track, plus, you wont have added clutter and distractions that you would if say your office was in the living room or kitchen.
