The IRS kindly sent over this press release:
Although no phrase may strike more fear in a taxpayer than the dreaded, “IRS audit”, the prospect of an IRS audit need not paralyze your small business. You can learn how to prepare for and what to expect during an audit by tuning in to the Internal Revenue Service March Tax Talk Today program, “Surviving the IRS Audit,” on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 2 p.m. Eastern time. The program will include what happens before, during and after the audit as tax professionals and IRS staff talk about audits from both sides of the desk.
Isn’t this a little like when the schoolyard bully tells you how he’s going to beat you up if you don’t give him your lunch money tomorrow?

You mean to tell me the audit man isn’t closely related to the devil? For some reason I imagined them with red horns and a pitch fork.
Seriously, though, I’m kind of glad to see they are willing to talk about what is to be expected from an audit, etc. Its not so easy to freeze up at the thought of an audit if you know what to expect.

I agree with angela…when someone mentions the mere thought of “audit” people tend to work themselves up into a frenzy gathering all kind’s of paperwork and expecting the worst. but then again, over the year’s in the past it has been portrayed as a horrible experience for anyone who ever has to go through an audit, and even today you hear all kind’s of advertisements talking about how much in trouble you can get by having an audit done on you without the proper documentation.
