Mompreneur Launches A Line Of Maternity Belts

Comox Valley Record:

Anna Mayo, Courtenay native and resident, announced this week the launch of her first entrepreneurial venture, Daisychain Maternity, a line of designer maternity support belts.

Daisychain does what no other support belt on the market today does — offers all the therapeutic benefits of a pregnancy support in a stylish fashion accessory.

Daisychain’s new website, www.daisychainmaternity.com, now offers its product internationally. In addition, Daisychain has built relationships with numerous local and national retailers. Here in Courtenay, Daisychain can be found at BE Clothing.

The genesis of Daisychain lies (appropriately) in the adage that necessity is the mother of all invention …

Mayo’s sister, Ocean, was pregnant with her first child when she began looking for something to help with the back pain and discomfort of her pregnancy. Mayo was surprised to hear that her sister couldn’t find anything other than institutional-style support belts; she started her own search and came up empty.

By the time Ocean was pregnant with her second child, Mayo had designed and commissioned a local seamstress to make something comfortable and fashionable for her sister.

“The idea of a maternity support belt that blends fashion with function seemed so natural to me. That there really wasn’t another product on the market that combined these two needs was the compelling factor that led me to pursue this niche in the maternity market,” says Mayo.
