New Biz Aims To ‘Mother’ New Moms
At a hospital maternity unit all the babying goes to the babies. Rachel Swardson-Wenham thinks it’s time to start mothering the mothers. “It definitely was something that should exist, and I couldn’t believe nobody did it.”
In June Rachel launched her new company offering in-hospital massages and spa services to new moms.
Go Home Gorgeous now offers on-call spa services at every hospital in the Twin Cities and in January began operating on-site at Fairview Southdale and Fairview Ridges.
Fairview receives no compensation from Go Home Gorgeous, but can offer its new moms “an outstanding patient experience,”

Being a somewhat new mom myself…i remember for those 9 month’s thinking to myself “when is someone gonna take care of me or ask about me?” it seemed as though everyone was only concerned with the baby on the way and almost never asked how i was doing or if i needed anything. that was quite irritating actually. i think this is a great business for her to start. are we forgetting what it means to be pregnant and become a mom? are we forgetting how hard it is to house a baby for those 9 months especially for those of us who have or had complications such as toxemia, diabetes, and more? it is a tough time for most women…and i think it’s about time they get some attention and taking care of!
