Selling Bottled NYC Water to New Yorkers?

Here’s a story real life company that’s doing the equivalent of selling ice to eskimos, selling bottled NYC municipal water to New Yorkers:
Two teachers on their lunch break scanned a refrigerated shelf inside a Manhattan coffee shop lined with drink bottles: Naked Juice, Perrier, Smartwater, New York City tap water.
“Tap water?” said Alison Szeli, 26, picking up the clear plastic bottle with orange letters: “Tap’d NY. Purified New York City tap water.”
She studied the description: “No glaciers were harmed in making this water.” She compared prices: Smartwater cost $1.85. Tap’d NY was 35 cents less.
Szeli and her co-worker went for tap, carrying the bottles to the cash register.
Crazy!

As odd and strange as it might sound…there are surprisingly a lot of people out there who prefer tap water to purified water…i am one of them. i’ll drink purified water if i have to, but i don’t care for it.

Now if they could only invent re-usable glass or aluminum bottles we could save the remaining $1.50.
Especially nice when taxpayers pay for garbage pickup and handling

I guess good business ideas are the ones that cause a consumer to put there hands on your product over another and then in their pocket… This does both. Its funny 15 year ago, where I live, bottled water was laughed at now everyone drinks it.

i agree on dane.good business will see the good cause of the consumers, and make sure that the products they are selling to the public are safe, bottled water are available in many stores but we are not sure if they are really safe, that is why we have to check the label first before we buy the product.
