Bison IT Offers A “Solution” To Computer Maintenance

When you run a business, you need your computer to run smoothly. The more computers you have, the more daunting that task can become. While having a team to handle any problems that might arise would provide a quick solution, it might not be very cost effective for you.

As more people stopped paying for repairs and started buying new equipment instead, Darren Osborne found himself in a bit of a jam. It was as while his client list started to shrink, he noticed a new trend. They still wanted help, but they wanted 24/7 computer support. Taking cue from their needs, he reinvented Bison IT Solutions and business has only gotten better.

What fundamentals is your company built on?

Honesty and Integrity, for example when I was doing repairs of computers for customers. If it was cheaper to buy a new computer then keep repairing an old one I would tell people that. I developed a lot of repeat business and word of mouth advertising this way. I have also found that providing great customer service helps you keep existing customers along with word of mouth referrals for new ones.

What countries do you currently accept clients from?

Any via web portal requests as we can use Google translator to communicate, if they want telephone support they must be english speaking users. I only speak english at the moment.

You mentioned a “Try Before You Buy” service option. What does that include?

This is where customers can register and have limited access to our search able knowledge base to resolve a problem them selves.

What goals do you hope to accomplish over the next year or so?

We currently have over 700 clients and are growing at a rate of 25% plus per month/ To have over 10,000 clients by the end of the year.

What has been the hardest part of getting started?

Dealing with some third party suppliers who don’t seem to want your business, when you have to phone them multiple times or e-mail them to get quotes or even to purchase goods and services. This is something that astounds me especially in the current economic climate.

What do you enjoy the most about being an entrepreneur?

Be your own boss and shaping your own future.

What has the feedback been like from your customers?

Excellent, my existing customers think it is a brilliant idea and most of them have already signed up for paid subscriptions. New customers like it as it is a cost effective way for them to get computer help 24/7.

What have you learned from the start-up process?

You may start a business that may collapses due to market forces, but that same business can be re-invented by changing the way you do business to rise again and become a successful business.

We know what inspired your business but what ultimately made you decide that you’d like to turn that inspiration into your business?

I like helping people and it is good to be able help customers with their computer issues and get the positive feed back as a result.

Has the recession had any effect on the launch of your business?

Yes it has had a dramatic effect, we are growing at a rate of 25% per month. It seems that due to every one wanting to save money and most people in the developed world owning a computer and having access to the Internet business is booming.

Do you have any advice that you’d like to share with other potential entrepreneurs that might be considering their own business based off an inspiring idea?

Make sure you do a lot of prior planning and have a business plan. Don’t quit your full time job until you have a steady and consistent cash flow in your business. If you have started your business and get thrown a curve ball like I did. Then Think outside the square and change how you do business so that you not only survive but thrive and become more successful. I would also highly recommend joining a highly successful ‘Word of Mouth Referral Group’ such as BNI www.bniteam.com.au. Not only does BNI save you time and money on getting qualified customers, it instantly connects you with a global network of small business owners.

What do people like the most about what your company offers?

That they can have access to computer help 24/7 from any where in the world from less than the cost of a coffee per day. The average small business can save upwards of $12,000 per year on computer support using our system, as opposed to using traditional I.T Support providers. They also like the fact the they can earn referral credits for referring others to our paid subscription system which allows them to have heavily discounted subscription of their own or potential a FREE subscription if they make enough referrals that become paid subscribers.
