On The Rebound: Rob Larimer

BusinessWeek:

Rob Larimer had two broadcasting jobs at the start of 2008: a full-time job as chief editor in the newsroom at an NBC affiliate in Louisville and side gig recording radio shows for a local oldies station.

But he lost his radio job when the station changed formats in July and was let go from the TV station in a wave of cutbacks by parent company Raycom Media that workers called Bloody Tuesday.

Now Larimer, who works in a studio he carved out of his den, hopes to parlay his audio experience into voiceover work for commercials, phone recordings, audio books, video games, and documentaries.

With the Internet and digital recording, he says, “you can do business with a client around the world and not ever leave the comfort of your own home.”
