Nigeria’s Fast Food Sector Feels The Heat Of Global Meltdown

Vanguard:

There are indications that the deepening global recession has started hitting the fast food industry in the country as UAC Franchising and Sweet Sensation lead in the layoff. Financial Vanguard authoritatively gathered that heat arising by the meltdown has forced operators in the sector to start trimming their payrolls in the name of re-organisation.

At Nandos Restaurant, a franchisee of UAC Franchising, for instance, it was gathered that the appointments of more than ten workers most of whom were contract staffs have been terminated, and more jobs will still be slashed.

UAC Franchising had in a letter of termination of appointments, dated February 17, ordered the affected employees to: “Please submit all company property including the Identity Card in your possession to the Human Resource Manager, UAC Franchising.”
