Resume Tips

With the economic downturn we find ourselves in today, there are many people looking for new jobs, which means that it may be time to update your resume. Below you’ll find a few tips that are sure to help you with your resume re-write.

  • Make sure to proof read your resume for both spelling and grammar, especially if your writing it in English and English is not your primary language.
  • Use a cover letter. Most people don’t use one, so already your setting yourself apart from the rest of the applicants.
  • Avoid using vague language such as “like” or “something”.
  • Modify your resume so that it is specifically related to the job you are applying for.
  • Be sure to include your salary and insurance requirements as well as all contact information with best times to reach you.

In general, remember that you want to stand out from all the other resumes. A typical job advertisement will result in dozens (if not many more) resumes being submitted. In addition to following my tips, try to find additional ways to make your resume unique and appealing based on the job for which you are applying.
