Entrepreneurs Jump the ‘Shark Tank’

Entrepreneur:

Mark Burnett, producer of CBS television’s Survivor, has teamed up with the rival ABC network to produce a reality show in which entrepreneurs pitch business ideas to multimillionaire moguls.

The seven-episode series, Shark Tank, is based on a successful reality show in the U.K. of the same formula – Dragon’s Den, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In the show, the tycoons have to be convinced to invest their own money into an idea, the Reporter states. If they don’t, the entrepreneur is eliminated.

“People are looking to be entrepreneurs to get ahead, yet there’s no way anybody can go into a bank right now and get a loan,” Burnett told the publication. “For these entrepreneurs, these sharks are their last stop.”

THR reports that the entrepreneurs will include Robert Herjavec (internet security), Kevin Harrington (infomercials), Barbara Corcoran (real estate), Kevin O’Leary (Canadian investor) and Daymond John (FUBU sportswear). A fall air date seems likely, the publication states.

  • While that does sound like a very interesting concept for a show, and a great opportunity for the one’s who make it through the show and convince the sharks that their idea is a great one, i still wonder about how picky the people are. I mean, the economy is not that good right now, so i’m sure even they are leary about giving up their money unless it is almost if not so guaranteed that the idea will produce results. that could be a draw back i think.

  • I think the show is going to do very well. They have some VERY successful sharks. Daymond John of FUBU is a branding genuis. Also, he is a legend especially in the the vast hip hop and fashion world. I cannot wait to see the show. I’m inspired already!
