It is no surprise that with the unemployment rate being so high and so many people now in the market for new jobs that there are bound to be some new employment laws. A complete list of the new employement laws was recently talked about in an article found on WebBlog.

First new law states that effective February 2nd there is a new form that employers must use for verification of employment. This increases the number of items needed for verification and also eliminates the use of expired documents as verification for employment to help weed out counterfeiters.

The second law states increases the amount of people that will be allowed to sue a company for discrimination. This law also increases the time limit that worker’s have to file such a lawsuit, it is now allowed up to 180 day’s after the discrimination took place.

The third law is DHS delaying the implementation of e-verify employment eligibility system.

This week the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agreed to delay until May 21, 2009 implementation of a new rule that would require federal contractors to use the federal government’s E-Verify employment eligibility system.
