When contemplating designing a website for your business, there is a vast range of options and things that need to be thought about and many decisions to be made on the look, feel and operation of your site. It’s your site that speaks to your customers about you and your business, so Entrepreneur.com has come up with some tips on making sure you get the site you want out of the designer.

First thing is first, do your research before choosing your designer, make sure their taste at least somewhat matches that of your own. Know the basics to a website. Yes, keeping up with current technology can be a hard thing to do, especially if your not exactly technology savvy, but at least knowing the basics will help you greatly.

Spykerman says clients should also take care that a designer doesn’t seem too eager or hurried. Reputable designers tend to be selective in whom they work with, because they understand how important a good match is to a project’s success. She recommends contacting a designer’s previous clients to ask about their experiences.

When asked what you think about what they have designed so far, make sure your honest with them but not to the point where you are nitpicking at every little detail. You don’t want to send them over the edge into not wanting to complete your website because your too nitpicky.

How was your first experience with your website designer?
