Mompreneur Leaves A Legacy

Desneige Meyer is a woman who takes her art very seriously. So when the talented sculptor gave birth to son Beckett last year, she did what any proud artist would do; she started incorporating him in to her work.

Meyer comes from a family of women involved in art. Her mother is a clothing designer and her grandmother designs and builds furniture for a living, so she said it was a “natural progression” for her to fall in to art as a career.

After graduating from high school, Meyer attended the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary, where she studied as a sculptor in the glass department and minored in body sculptoring.

After finishing college and moving to B.C., Meyer and her husband discussed what her options for work might be. A nine-to-five job was not in the cards, she mused.

“Was I going to go get a real job? No way, that’s not going to happen,” she said.

After thinking about what she might like a home-business model to look like, Meyer said the answer became obvious.

“If I’m going to be making art for people, I can create art in my own images and hope someone will buy it – or I can make art that is entirely about people and families and give people exactly what they want. And that really floats my boat.”

Once the decision was made, Desneige Memory Casting was born.
