I think most people over use the flash concept, i am one of them…i admit it! It’s like we automatically think that in order to get a good picture we have to use the flash,in order to get great lighting we have to use the flash and so on…and then in the end we get a bunch of pictures that we cant even make out as to what they were taken of.

If you are addicted to using the flash, at least soften the flash by bouncing it off an index card or putting a tissue over the flash to soften it.
Also try this tip. Hold your camera upside down and use the flash. It will fill from below instead of from above and will make a difference, especially in portraits. You can always flip the photo right side up when you print it.
