Uncommon Traits Of A Successful Entrepreneur

We spend a lot of time talking about good traits that successful entrepreneurs have in common with each other, but were forgetting the not so common traits that also help entrepreneurs to become successful. I recently came across an article posted on Duct Tape Marketing that addresses these traits.
Risk Averse – This one throws people, but successful entrepreneurs are not any more wired to take risks than most, but they are wired to spot opportunities and possess the confidence that something, perhaps not what was originally envisioned, can be made of the opportunity.
While curiosity is not a normal trait that business schools teach, it is one of the most powerful traits to have in business. It allows you as an entrepreneur to “color outside of the lines” so to speak, venture out in areas other than what you know.
Trust is another big uncommon trait to have. You have to establish a sense of trust, make others believe you are trustworthy and that you hold up to your promises that you have made. Successful entrepreneurs are also pragmatic meaning they have a great sense of reality. They know the difference between they “may” be able to make something happen and they “can” make something happen in business.

I’ll add one more to the list that really goes along with what you posted from Duct Tape marketing: Adventure. You have to be able to want to try something and even if it doesn’t end up as planned, you can still find the opportunity and make something out of it.

Experiential understanding also helps. Having experience in many disciplines allows you to see patterns that others might miss. Even if they are in different aspects of ones life, these patterns translate into the ability to see opportunity rather than risk. Others would see risk while you see the patterns that translate into potential business.
