A McDonald’s On Every Corner

Fast Company:

Just how far away can one get from the convenience of McDonald’s at any given time?

Turns out, not very.

Stephen von Worley at Weather Sealed set out to chart the urban sprawl of America by mapping the 13,000+ locations of McDonald’s across the lower 48 states.

With the aid of Agg Data, he created a striking map of the US, colored by distance to the nearest domestic Mickey D’s. Gorgeous, but terrifying.

The fast food chain is wall-to-wall across the eastern US and southern regions. Unsurprisingly, the ratio thins as we move west into Big Sky Country.

    This is something Yummy, Yummy.

I am sure if another chart was created and was overlaid on the Mcdonalds data, comparing heart attack, obesity, type II diabetes, and socio economic status to an extent the data would look very similar.

    Frightening indeed

That is just disturbing to know that there are that many mcdonalds’ around the country. Josh brings up an excellent point, they may be making a ton of money by selling their food so cheap and being on every corner, but they in turn are causing more problems for the economy as they are clogging up thousands of peoples arteries that soon will need medical attention.
