Smart Speed Bump
They call it “smart” but I think it’s genius: Concern about the environmental impact of excessive breaking and accelerating has led Mexico to develop a “smart” speed bump writes USA Today.
When a driver is going the speed limit, the bump retracts into the ground.
Says the company manufacturing the device: “With this speed bump, people will feel rewarded for obeying the law.”

In the article one of the people quoted said that they should just eliminate them all together and I agree. If the whole reason why they created speed bumps was to slow down drivers because the police won’t do anything about them, instead of a smarter speed bump they need a more effective police force. As far as speed bumps go, though, these do sound like an improvement.
