Hostess Susan Sarkisian has invited friends to a direct sales event, but not the Tupperware party of a generation ago.
Instead of plastic dishes, guests learn about wine.
Care Wright, the wine consultant for WineShop at Home, teaches the groups the basics and brings along six bottles from a Napa vineyard for taste testing and demonstration.
“I always tell people I’m not a wine expert,” Wright said. “My expertise is in consuming wine. Most of the people who come to our tastings are that way.”
Wright said that they just need to be curious and willing to learn.
The hostess pays a fee for the session and buys a list of snacks to accompany the wine, 10TV’s Andrea Cambern reported. The guests try the wine with strawberries, cheese and chocolate.
