KFC Sells Chicken For Penny A Calorie

By on December 3, 2009 in Ideas

KFC, the erstwhile Kentucky Fried Chicken, has introduced a special meal promotion with a novel pricing twist: It costs 1 cent a calorie, reports WalletPop.

The 395-calorie Kentucky Grilled Chicken meal comes with a drumstick and thigh, green beans, mashed potatoes, and gravy. For that square meal, customers pay $3.95.

KFC might also have just stumbled on one of the only ways to get Americans back into shape: connect dollars with calories.

That is a great marketing strategy! It may be connecting price to the amount of calories the person will consume buy I don’t think many people will think twice about eating it or really worry that much about the amount of calories in it, especially if it is going to lower the price from what it usually is. Most people who buy fast food and eat some of the unhealthier items on the menu aren’t usually that worried about calorie count.
