Ronald McDonald House Offers Parents Of Sick Children A Place To Stay

St. George Daily Spectrum:

When Malory Quarnberg’s 8-month-old son Karter had to be Life Flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital for a bone marrow transplant, the last thing on her mind was finding a place in Salt Lake City to stay.

After checking Karter into the hospital, reality set in.

“We didn’t know what we were going to do,” said Quarnberg, who lives in Hurricane.

With no family in the Salt Lake area, Quarnberg was relieved to learn about the Ronald McDonald House – a temporary “home away from home” available to families with seriously ill children who are being treated in Salt Lake hospitals.

“It was like a burden was lifted off of you,” Quarnberg said, recalling her feelings when the hospital social worker told her about the Ronald McDonald House. “You didn’t have to worry about paying all that money for hotels.”
