New Business Has Your Bedding Needs Covered

Before you anyone can start their own business, they have to want it bad enough to work for it. That is exactly what Mary Shelton has learned as she works to get her new business off the ground.

Since launching ComfortersandMore.com in June, Mary has worked hard to get the word out about her business and to try building a customer base. While her efforts haven’t paid off yet, she still hopes to reach a point where she can finally quit her job and run her business full time.

Tell us a little about your business, ComfortersandMore.com.

Comfortersandmore.com is a business that carries a few different types of comforters, both down comforters and down alternative. Right now most of what I carry is from Pacific Coast Feather Company. I do hope to add more products at a later date.

What inspired it?

I’ve always wanted to run my own business and thought this would be a great way to try it out. I decided to go with things for the bedroom because I feel your bedroom is the one place you can go and just relax. so it should be as luxurious and special as you want.

Since we already know you sell comforters, what “more” do you also sell?

Beside, comforters we also carry mattress pads, feather beds, sheets, duvet covers, blankets and pillows.

How many different styles/brands of comforters and products do you currently offer?

We carry down comforters, down alternative comforters, down blankerts, microfiber throws. Right now I carry are Pacifice Coast Feather Company, Restful nights, and Natural living, also a few items from homespell.

Have you always had an interest in starting your own business?

I think I’ve always thought it would be fun running my own business, not having to punch a time clock and doing things when I want to. I am surprise at how far I have come. I was suprised that I was actually able to set up the website. I had help from tafift builders, they showed me how.

What were some of the steps you had to take so you could prepare for and launch ComfortersandMore.com?

We had to decide on a domain name. Name the website and see if it was available. First decide what we wanted to sell and do some research to see if people would be interested in the products. Design the webpage and then get drop shippers to work with. What took the longest was design all the pages and putting the products on. Setting up the whole website. It takes awhile but when you get your first page done it feels great. Before you know it, you have the whole site done.

What are some of the lessons your business has taught you?

When I started I did not know a lot on how to do things on the computer, just some basic things. I’m still not that great but I did figure out a lot. Also, time management. I had to figure how to manage my time between running the house, working my job and then finding time to work on the business.

If you could go back in time, would you change anything?

I think the only thing I might of done differently would have been maybe starting a little sooner.

Do you have any advice that you’d like to offer fellow web entrepreneurs that are hoping to or just starting to launch their own business?

My advice would be if this is something you really think you would love to do, then you have to have the courage to at least try and give it your best. I know there were times a few years ago when I thought about starting my own business but just was to afraid. I’m in my fifties now and finally decided that I better try or I will never do it and hope things work out.but at least I’m trying. If you have a dream go for it don’t be afraid to at least give it a shot.
