Mary Kay Donates Suits For Shelters

NBC San Diego:

Two local domestic violence shelters each received thousands in money and clothing from the Mary Kay Foundation.

The company’s annual “Suits for Shelters” program collects and donates professional clothing for victims of domestic violence who are trying to get back on their feet.

The group gave a $20,000 grant and hundreds of suits to the YWCA of San Diego and the Center for Community Solutions.

“We’re here to deliver what we call ‘Suits for Shelters’ and that is to give professional business attire to victims of domestic violence survivors, so that as they try to rebuild their lives and go out and look for jobs,” Mary Kay spokesperson Rhonda Shasteen said Tuesday at the San Diego Convention Center where the company is holding its annual meeting.

“They have professional clothing that they can feel confident in and make a good first impression,” she said.
