The marriage lasted almost two decades.
But the couple had to part ways because both wanted to do different things.
That’s the gist of why brothers Chuck and Pete Barbeau decided to get out of the Don Cherry‘s restaurant chain and head in another direction — M.I.C. (Made in Canada) Canadian Eatery & Whisky Pub, a new restaurant concept that is about all things Canadian.
“We have been talking about this since Don and Rick Scully sold Don Cherry’s,” said Chuck. “Over the last 17 1/2 years, we have learned everything in the business. We really felt it was time to go off on our own… We wanted to take it a step higher.”
So, starting this Wednesday or Thursday, following about three weeks of extensive renovations, Greater Sudburians can drop by the former Don Cherry’s Canadian Eatery at the corner of Falconbridge Road and The Kingsway and see what the Barbeaus have done to the place. More.
