A Princess That All Little Girls Can Admire

What little girl doesn’t enjoy pretending she’s a princess? While there might be no real kingdom in their bedroom it is the ability to pretend it’s real that kids really enjoy.

In Zaria’s World every little girl is a princess. Created by author and entrepreneur Cheryl Lynn Pope, Zaria is based around the little princess in her own life, her daughter. They offer a whole club experience for girls all over through her website. Each month one lucky girl is chosen to be the “Princess of the Month” and club members also get to receive a variety of goodies in the mail.

Who is Princess Zaria? How did you come up with this character?

Princess Zaria is the main character in my children book The Adventures of Princess Zaria series. She was inspired by my daughter, ‘ The Real Princess Zaria.’ Zaria means princess in Africa and Latin America. We’ve called her Princess Zaria since she was born and she knows she is a princess.

Although Princess Zaria is African-American, the concept is universal. There are Asian, Latin and European princesses. Actually, every culture has a princess. We believe all little girls are princesses and should be treated as such.

I wrote the book because I wanted little girls to believe in themselves. It is very important for girls to realize they have the power to do and be anything they want. Our tagline is: Celebrating The Princess Within. It is our goal to show that their is a princess in every little girl. For us, princess is synonomous with strength, power, beauty, intelligence, honesty and character.

We also offer a mommy-daughter blog through our site. My daughter, The Real Princess Zaria and i post content weekly. We offer contests and giveaways, too.

Tell us a little about the Princess Zaria club.

We also maintain a fan club through our website www.princesszaria.com. Little girls ages 3-10 receive a tiara, membership card, book mark, princess stickers and tattoos, pencil and other royal goodies.

Can we expect to see any new Zaria books in the near future?

I’m currently working on my 3rd book, the second installment of The Adventures of princess Zaria Book Series. The topic will surround a school spelling bee. I haven’t decided on the title yet so I’m holding a contest for it. Details are at www.princesszaria.com.

What is included in your author visits and other events? How much does it cost?

I travel the country performing story readings and author visits. Pricing range from $135.00 and up depending on the number of presentations. Travel and lodging is extra.

Along with your children’s book you also have a book for adults called, 25 Ways To Make Your Child(ren) Feel Special. Care to share a little intro with us?

It offers over two dozen fun and exciting things to do for and with your child. My favorite tip is: Create a Special Day For Your Child(aside from a birthday). That one is a big hit among the PTA parents I present to.

What are some goals you still hope to accomplish with your business?

Someday, we would like to open a full service boutique for girls.

What are some of the lessons you’ve learned as a writer and enterpreneur?

The most important lesson that I have learned is to follow your dreams.

Do you have any tips that you’d like to share with aspiring author/entrepreneurs?

The greatest tip that I would like to share is that you must be able to organize and prioritize. Make a list of 5 things to do this week and stick to it. Perseverence is key!
