Burger Nirvana

Metro Spirit:

Danny Durham Jr. will put his burgers up against just about any establishment in town.

When he opened Embers Grille on Baston Road in February of 2008, Durham set out to create a gourmet burger at an affordable price.

With that goal in mind, he chose fresh Hereford beef, grilled over a charcoal flame.

The 6-ounce patties are always topped with the freshest lettuce and tomatoes possible, along with crunchy sweet onions and dill pickle chips.

And then there are the hand-cut fries, which the restaurant makes fresh daily and tops with Cajun seasoning.

Durham says he wanted to steer clear of the pre-frozen fare a lot of other burger establishments serve up.

“We hand-cut our fries and batter our own onion rings,” Durham says. “Everything is made fresh in the store. Our salads are made to order.” Read more.
