Constantly Promote Your Biz
How do one-person businesses get big?
They’re always promoting themselves–always.
PC World has put together some promotion ideas. Add your web site URL to your e-mail signature. Create a Facebook group for your business. Write a humorous blog about your product or industry (check out Chris Lindland’s Cordarounds blog for ideas).
Submit your gems to Digg, Reddit, and StumbleUpon. Comment on online stories in your field and cast yourself as an expert. Meet and greet at trade shows.
Make T-shirts, stickers, and business cards. Give away products to charity events in exchange for an ad. Hold contests for freebies and make people work for the prizes.
Above all: Don’t let anyone forget about your new enterprise.

That is some great advice! Definitely something all businesses should keep in mind.

I’m not sure about submitting your own stuff to Digg – maybe courting a power user and having them submit for you?
The basic advice of “never stop promoting” holds true though.

Promoting and Marketing go hand-in-hand. You’ve got to stir the interest
of the buyer and describe all the benefits your product will give them.
Will your product save money and time, improve appearrance, inform, bring joy or change a mood (such as a music CD)? You get what I mean.
A little anedote go a long ways too- however, make sure the picture fit the words.
