Hi! I'm Dane Carlson, and welcome to the Business Opportunities Weblog. I've been publishing this website, by myself, and sometimes with the help of others for over twelve years now. You'll notice two things about this site right away:

  • We have tons of content. In fact, since November 2011, I've published more than 26,000 posts on thousands of different business ideas and opportunities.
  • We don't sell much advertising. In late 2013, I realized that by selling advertising, what I was really selling was my readers. In 2014, I've already radically cut down on the number of ads and will hopefully keep cutting.

Today while the dream of so many people is to become their own boss, create a great product, or simply open up their very own business of some sort and run their own company, so many of those dreamers are tied down by fear today, especially because of the economic situation we’re in.

Without a doubt the number one fear has always been and will remain to be the fear of failing. Everyone experiences this fear, no matter what they are doing. Don’t let this fear bring you down, it is better to fail doing something you love than to succeed doing something you hate!

Another fear of new entrepreneurs is being your own boss. Being your own boss comes with a lot of responsibility. There is no more passing the buck off onto someone else, sending complaints to someone else, and there is always the fear that your employees will run all over you, fear you or not respect you.

Consumption of your life is always a great possibility when you own a business if you are not careful. This is why we spend a lot of time posting articles revolving around balancing work and life. If you plan your day well, slow down and take a breather every once in a while and remember why you started your own business to begin with. Then you will have an upper hand in maintaining the balance.
