23 Years With Mary Kay Brings Woman 15th Cadillac

IdahoStatesman.com:

Gina Gildone, 56, of Melba received use of the car because her team sold enough Mary Kay makeup and skin care products in six months. Each employee has a chance to requalify every two years for another leased car.

Q: How did you get involved in selling Mary Kay?

A: I have been in the company for 23 years, and at the time (I started), my children were small. I was looking to do something part time, and I loved the company’s value system designed to keep a woman and her priorities in Mary Kay, but have an opportunity to advance. Now I am executive senior sales director.

Q: What awards have you received through Mary Kay?

A: I have been on three world-class trips and a side trip to Italy. I have also earned two four-carat diamond rings. The rewards are based on the director level. If your sales are at the $500,000 unit, you win the diamond rings, beautiful prizes, jewelry and cash prizes. If you earn $650,000 retail in a year, you earn the world-class trips.

Q: Would you recommend direct selling to others?

A: It isn’t for everyone, but I think that for some people they are just happier. You need to feel a need – whether it’s social, financial, tax purposes or a young woman who needs to supplement her college budget. If someone is looking for something to do on the side to make money without a part-time job at the mall, this is a great opportunity. Entrepreneurship is becoming strong because there is no job security at other organizations. I think that women are looking to work for themselves.
