Minneapolis Offers Free Internet Access

Govfresh.com reports that Minneapolis now offers citizens free Internet access from 117 “Wireless Minneapolis” hotspots.

Hotspot sites were selected based on “where people already gather and use computers, and places where free wireless access would encourage people to gather, including parks, plazas, schools and businesses.”

Locations will be indicated with signs that say, “Free Wireless Minneapolis Hotspot Courtesy: City of Minneapolis USI Wireless.” A list of hotspots can be found here.

“Being a wireless city is important, but we have to be a wireless city for everyone. These new hot spots are another benchmark in our work to bridge the digital divide and create economic and educational opportunity for everyone,” said, Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak.
