Teaching Business In High School
If your high school had offered a class on entrepreneurship, would you have taken it? That is a question that’s being considered by a school board in the Philippines.
The Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol F. Matugas hopes to convince everyone that leaving school and heading straight into a job isn’t the only option for high school grads so it shouldn’t be the only thing they’re taught reports the Manilla Bulletin.
Aside from providing technical and vocational skills training to young people through the ladderized system of education, where young vocational-technical graduates can continue to pursue college education, Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol F. Matugas wants to add “entrepreneurship” as part of the public high school system in the province.
Matugas noted that most high school or college graduates tend to search for jobs they could not find because their objective in attaining education is for employment and not for self-employment or to become entrepreneurs.

I am in 100% agreement about this. It’s becoming increasingly more common for people to go the entrepreneur route nowadays, especially with the job market in shambles… I think they should also offer classes in basic money principles (interest rate, stocks, bonds, CDs…). It is frustrating to me how many people can’t define these terms.

I guess the bottom line of all this, is that we must be optimistic in thinking our future – positive vibe comes along positive objective. We must think always for a better picture.
