Burger King Franchisee Denies Bacteria Allegations

Hurriyet Daily News:

International food chain Burger King‘s Turkey franchise, which has been accused of buying contaminated meat, rejected claims Thursday, saying a former meat supplier was slandering the group.

TAB Gıda, the national representative and master franchisee of Burger King in Turkey, discovered bacteria in hamburger meat supplied by TT Gıda during regular inspections five months ago, said Vice Board Chairman Erhan Kurdoğlu during a press meeting in Istanbul on Tuesday.

“We received the laboratory examination results on April 12 and stopped buying from that supplier on April 15,” said Kurdoğlu. “We destroyed all that meat.”

TAB Gıda informed the supplier officially about the destroyed meat.
