Frozen Yogurt Craze Hits Cagayan De Oro

BusinessWorld Online:

It could be this city’s diners are now health conscious or are just simply embracing the yogurt craze. Rain or shine — or as it has been in recent days, rain or rain — people have been going for their frozen yogurt (froyo for short) fix.

Sold as a healthy snack option, the product banks on the yogurt’s live cultures — called probiotics — which are supposed to promote good digestion. It is also a good alternative to milk for lactose intolerant consumers (up to 70% of the world’s population according to some estimates) as it still provides calcium, protein and vitamin B2.

Presently, there are four froyo shops in the city. The first to open was YOYO at Robinsons Mall. Red Berry recently opened a new stall at SM City in addition to its stand at Lim Ket Kai Mall. A big one, and the latest, is Kiwi Swirl, which opened in August.
