Niche Biz: 4th Amendment Wear
According to the CargoCollective.com web site, the concept behind 4th Amendment Wear is simple: to get a few people to think a little more about their constitutional rights.
The brainchild of Tim Geoghegan and Matthew Ryan, 4th Amendment Wear is underwear printed with the 4th amendment in metallic ink that is readable on TSA body scanners.
T-shirts, underwear and socks imprinted with the amendment regarding unreasonable searches are available with prices ranging from $10 to $24.

While on the one hand, airport security staffers maintain, the greater good is served since everyone boarding a flight is body scanned, no exceptions. Theoretically then, we will feel safer en route. There is nevertheless, an intrusive element that can make fliers, including this one.. uneasy. Overworked, stressed out airline employees, though merely doing their job, are not always mindful of the downside: a routine search can easily enter the realm of the personally invasive. When asked, nearly everyone I know has an airline pre-board search horror story. So, it’s ironic and probably right on time to be reminded of the Fourth Amendment. Let’s hope that a touch of humor creates more awareness, and dare we hope – greater sensitivity on the part of airline ground staff?
