Computer Mom Punishes Electronic Issues

If you were to ask Julie Marto, she’d tell you that computer viruses are a lot like teenagers. Leaving a teen at home for a day or overnight might not cause much damage. Over a week or so, though, viruses and teens can make a big mess.

Julie has always had an interest in computers, reports Wicked Local Medfield. She had a computer science major in college and sold computers for a living before she became a stay-at-home mom. Sixteen years ago she asked her husband for a computer. He told her it was okay, but she would have to find a way to make money using it. She started to make plans when a friend approached her for some help on setting up her own computer.

A light bulb went off in Julie’s head, and it soon became clear to her just how she could go about making money using computers.

At the beginning of her career, she was focusing on training but now the majority of her work focuses on virus removal.

“A lot of people don’t understand that, even though they got anti-virus software with their computer, very often it is no longer up-to-date and it needs to be updated annually, just like a flue shot,” said Marto. “The anti-virus software needs to be the most up-to-date and needs the most current inoculation.”

Marto said that, once a computer is infected with a virus, “It’s all over because it gets its tentacles into your systems and you have to get underneath it to clean it up. If you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s just going to be awful.”

Other Computer Mom services include technical support, troubleshooting, training, installing parental controls, setting up home networks, and transferring data from machine to machine.
