Brian and Bonnie English decided to try their hands at selling window treatments and other home decor during the depths of the Great Recession, and they don’t regret a thing.

The couple, who recruited their children Ryan and Jessica and friend Kyle Roark for help, marked their second anniversary as Budget Blinds franchisees in mid-January.

Brian English had spent 20 years as a meat department manager for Costco before making the leap into franchising, he said. The economy was bad in January 2009, but he and Bonnie decided that since their children were out of high school, the time was ripe to take a chance. Read more.
