Hi! I'm Dane Carlson, and welcome to the Business Opportunities Weblog. I've been publishing this website, by myself, and sometimes with the help of others for over twelve years now. You'll notice two things about this site right away:

  • We have tons of content. In fact, since November 2011, I've published more than 26,000 posts on thousands of different business ideas and opportunities.
  • We don't sell much advertising. In late 2013, I realized that by selling advertising, what I was really selling was my readers. In 2014, I've already radically cut down on the number of ads and will hopefully keep cutting.

Have you ever wondered why a mom would start a business? Are you curious about what is running through their mind? The Globe and Mail recently broke down those reasons into seven main categories.

I can’t bear to leave the kids, and we need the cash

For some women, being available to their children is a long-standing dream. These mompreneurs tend to start their businesses so that they can afford to be home with the kids.

I want to be home with the kids, but my brain needs more

Maybe you’ve already made the decision and the necessary financial arrangements to be home with the kids, but you somehow feel that you need to be engaged in something besides motherhood.

I need to pay my bills

Either by necessity or by choice, some mompreneurs are born out of the need or desire for money.
