A Youth Revives Old Trade: Shoe Repair
He’s a six-foot tall Texan complete with cowboy hat, thick work boots and the hint of a drawl, and planted in a little shop on the East End of Winona, Adam Jimenez is reviving an old art. The art of shoes, of boots and saddles and fine leatherwork; the 27-year-old San Antonio native is now Winona’s only cobbler.
“I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a few years, really,” he said, his tall frame stooped over a custom welded shoe horn with a leather boot attached, scraping away an old welt — what the sole of the boot is affixed to.

I loved this blog about the young shoe repairman. It is indeed an old trade but still very valuable. A good cobbler can do wonders for shoes, purses and any leather products. In this economy, if people took their shoes to a cobbler more often, they could really save a lot of money. Now, to only educate the average consume about the wonders a good cobbler can do!
