Controlling Your Collar
The point of a dress shirt is to look nice. So, what can you do if the collar won’t do what you want? For Jonathan Boos, that may involve creating a solution. His product, Power Stays, is a magnetic collar stay that forces it to do what you want.
According to Herald-Tribune.com, the world will be learning about this innovative product next week when Boos appears on Shark Tank.
“My biggest challenge has been working capital,” Boos said, echoing many small business people in the post-recession world. “Even though the business continues to grow and maintains retail success, it hasn’t equated in bank loans to support our strong growth demand.”
So Boos reached out to “Shark Tank.”
Würkin Stiffs was established in 2006 after Boos created his first magnetic collar stay when he was preparing for a night out with his wife, Amie.
Boos patented the product and began selling it out of the trunk of his car. He opened his first retail account after sending Amie Boos into men’s specialty stores to pitch the product.
The stays are now sold in stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Nieman Marcus.

I am happy he was able to “stay” the course, and “collar” some bucks! Nyuk, nyuk…No really — it’s a simple, most practical idea. I regularly get into a rage when my colleague Steven shows up for meetings, with “flipped up collar ends”..otherwise a snappy dresser, he always looks a bit deranged when we meet, and his shirt is not quite… well, you know.
