Au Bon Pain Chalks Out Consolidation Of Operations In Bangalore

Spencer’s Retail Limited, the master franchisee for the US-based Au Bon Pain in India, has now chalked out plans for consolidating its presence in Bangalore and expanding its footprint pan India.

The brand ventured into the Indian market starting with Bangalore in December 2009. It introduced the concept of fast, casual and healthy dining.

“India is an upcoming economy and also has a lot of international chains running successfully. We chose Bangalore in particular as it is a cosmopolitan city with a consumer base that is globally exposed and has evolved tastes. The investment for this brand in India has come from the internal group funding and for the first year the investment has been Rs 25 crore. A bulk of investment has gone into the preparation of the back-end infrastructure which covered installation of a hi-end manufacturing plant and logistics,” Subbanna Kannur, business head, Au Bon Pain – India, told F&B News.
