Herds Of Hope To Help Children Nation-Wide

Farm Weekly:

McDonalds restaurant franchisee, Tony Aichinger, believes beef industry generosity will go a long way to funding a $20 million building expansion program to assist country families with sick children in hospital.

Mr Aichinger, who with his wife, Luita, owns four McDonalds sites and a mixed grazing property in southern NSW, is driving a nationwide initiative using cattle to raise money for Ronald McDonald Houses, Australia-wide.

He took to the catwalk at January’s Victorian weaner sales urging beef producers to pledge a calf to the Herds of Hope campaign, donating the proceeds from the animal’s eventual sale to Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia.

The charity runs 13 family accommodation centres adjacent to major hospitals providing free housing to families or close friends of seriously sick children.

The young patients often need to spend months away from home as part of their medical treatment.
