Virtual Mirror: Try On Glasses on Your Computer

Japanese eyeglass company Zoff has launched a new service on their website allowing users to try on glasses using a augmented reality virtual mirror . Using any computer with a web browser and webcam, users align their heads with an area marked in the screen and the glasses appear like magic on the face on the screen. No matter how you twist and turn the glasses remain on the user’s face.
Here’s a subtitled video demo of the technology:

Brilliant! Makes one wonder how long until we can try on all kinds of clothes, shoes, etc virtually and never leave the house! An amazing but also scary notion…

That is pretty neat! That definitely looks like it could be the next step in buying glasses online. While doing some looking around for glasses a while back, I came across a website or two that allowed people to upload their photo so they could “try” frame styles on their face. Glasses are a tough product to buy online because you never know just how good it will look. Something like this would definitely help ease those buying fears.

Definately a software all online retailers for glasses should be acquiring.

I love it! It’s neat how she can move and see what they will look like on her face from different angles.
I’ve heard that buying glasses online is much cheaper than in the traditional stores, and the ability to “try on” the glasses is going to make the sale much easier!
