Pic Business Takes A Wider Angle

A photography business might not be an obvious candidate for a franchised business model. But Mark Morffew, founder of Morffew Photos, has plans to open three franchises this year, and ultimately a chain of up to 25 stores in shopping centres around the country.

Morffew, whose business specialises in photographing children and families, says he realised a franchise model was the right way to expand his business.

“The success of a photography business is all about the person running the show, which is why I decided to franchise the business, rather than open more stores and put managers in place,” he says.

Morffew has been working with Nick Prohasky, executive consultant with franchise advisers DC Strategy, to compile an operations manual documenting every process in the business, from training staff to the sales process. Read more.
