Motorcycles Kill The Elderly, More
In 1975, 80% of all deaths on a motorcycle occurred in people 29 years and younger. Today greater than 30% of all deaths are in people 50 years and older. The 29 and younger crowd only account for about 25%.

What’s this mean? If you’re trying to sell motorcycles, or motorcycle-related accessories to the youth, you’re targeting the wrong market.

There is another interesting trend in those stats. The people under 30 who drove those motorcycles in the 70′s are the 50+ crowd driving them now.
I don’t think the deaths accurately reflect who is buying them, though. There are a lot of people in my area who ride and they are well below 50. I do sense an opportunity in motorcycle safety for older riders.
