North Jersey has been targeted as a key expansion market for Energy Kitchen, a chain that believes Americans have a growing hunger for “healthy fast food.”
The eight-year-old chain, with 10 restaurants in Manhattan and Hoboken, recently signed up a high-powered investor who sees the potential for 1,000 Energy Kitchen locations nationwide within 10 years. The company, founded by Anthony Leone, plans to grow by franchising the concept, and its first Bergen County franchisee intends to open his first location by the end of the year.
