Less than a year after it opened, the Blockbuster video store on 1600 S. Valley Dr., will close. The store is currently holding a sale for movies and games.
Owner Alan Payne said he is not closing any of his nine El Paso locations.
“The is very disappointing,” said Payne, who moved into the Las Cruces market last year after a previous franchisee closed their three Las Cruces stores over the period of several years. “We thought we had a shot at reopening a market that had been abandoned.”
Payne said the Las Cruces store “still has decent traffic” but not enough to keep it open.
