Niche Biz: Drop-In Daycare

By on September 2, 2011 in Ideas

No one really enjoys shopping with their kids. Between the “I Want’s” and the bathroom breaks, shopping with even one kid can be a long process. So, what can you do about it? If you’re on Merritt Island, just drop them off at Go Have Fun and shop kid-free. Melody Autry’s business represents a special niche that desperately needs filled, reports FloridaToday.com.

“I had a very good job, but my heart was in homeschooling my girls,” said Melody. “It was a lose-lose situation, where I couldn’t do my job well and still be a good mom.”

She revisited her idea for mall child care, approached Merritt Square and last year became the proud mom of Go Have Fun, which allows parents a leisurely shopping experience while their children are lovingly cared for by Autry and her staff.

Her girls come to work with Mom, so Autry has the best of both worlds, although she admits things do get hectic.

“You make lists and keep going one day at a time,” she said. “You’ve got to roll with the punches and realize you are not superwoman.”

Another Idea: How to Start a Shopping Business

What a GREAT IDEA! I have never seen anything like this and yet it’s one of those “Why didn’t I think of that…” ideas. I know that a lot of parents would love to shop without the complaining and whining.
